How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks on Legs

Do you have stretch marks on your legs? And do you want to get rid of them? This article is all about the causes and also how you can prevent them or reduce the appearance.

Having stretch marks (or striae) on your legs is not pretty. You might feel a little embarrassed and uncomfortable showing your legs on a hot summer day. And you don't really want to wear long pants or skirts all the time to cover them up, right?

It could make you rather insecure when you have to show a part of your body that you are not happy with. Did you know that striae are one of the most important causes for insecurity. And you really should not have to suffer like that.

What are the main causes for stretch marks on legs?

They are most often caused by pregnancy and obesity. You get little scars in your skin because of the rapid growth of your body. The skin can't grow and stretch as fast as your body does, so the result is damaged skin.

Another cause is rapid growth with young people. Especially teenage woman suffer from striae when they are growing, because woman generally have larger hips and thighs. You can't do anything about it, it's just the natural growing process.

When you are working out intensively or when you are body building, you could also experience them on your legs. Although your training program won't always allow it, you should try to grow slow enough for your skin to grow with you.

How can you prevent stretch marks?

There are two ways to prevent them. The most obvious way is to make sure that your skin can keep up with the growth of your body. You can do this when you control your body growth. Like people that struggle with obesity, work out intensively or even for some woman during pregnancy.

Another effective way is to moisten your skin. You can moisten your skin by applying a liquid to the area where you discover the first signs of stretch marks. Creams and oils are the most common products for moisturizing the skin.

Once you have them there are a number of ways to get rid of them. You could consider surgery, but one of the most efficient and effective ways is the use of a special stretch mark prevention cream or oil. They will not go away completely, but the appearance can be reduced dramatically.

Why is moisturizing the most effective way to reduce stretch marks?

The answer to this question is; YOU. By frequently putting a cream or oil on your skin you can make the skin stronger and give it more elasticity. The skin then has a chance to grow together with your body.

You can apply the cream on your legs anytime you want. You don't need anybody to do it for you. And you can do it at home where you feel most comfortable and secure. Since you want to reduce them it won't be hard to motivate yourself to moisten regularly, right?

So now you know what causes stretch marks on your legs, how to prevent them and what you can do to reduce the appearance.
